Fire Ban in place for Bribie Island Recreation Area

This alert applies to the following parks:

A fire ban has been declared by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service from 0001hrs Tuesday 29th January 2019 until further notice. This fire ban has been issued due to ongoing dry and hot conditions in the local area and will continue until conditions moderate.

Open fires must not be lit anywhere in the Bribie Island Recreation Area. Open fires are defined as: wood fires that are not fully self-contained, including open campfires and fires in braziers, drums, other open containers, and QPWS supplied fire-rings and barbeques.

Only heating appliances which can immediately have the heat source stopped by a valve can be used. Note: Ash producing fuels, heat beads, Oz-pigs and similar appliances cannot be used during this period.

Visitors must comply with this fire ban and the directions of QPWS rangers—penalties may apply.

Notify QPWS of any breaches in QPWS protected areas by calling 13 QGOV (13 74 68).
