Camping at Girraween National Park is restricted due to limited water

Applies until 10 December 2019.

This alert applies to the following parks:

Due to a lack of rainfall, Bald Rock Creek and Castle Rock camping areas in Girraween National Park have been closed to campers outside the Queensland school holidays.

Castle Rock camping area only will re-open for:

  • the June/July school holidays - from 29 June to 14 July (inclusive),
  • the September school holidays - from 21 September to 5 October (inclusive), and
  • the Christmas school holidays - from 21 December.

When open, Castle Rock camping area will have no showers will be provided.

Bald Rock Creek camping area will remain closed during school holidays.

The camping areas will fully re-open once enough there has been enough rainfall.

Girraween National Park will remain open to day-use activities, and some remote walk-in campsites can still be booked.

Campers are asked to be mindful of water use while at the park.
