Walking track update (ex-TC Debbie) - Lamington National Park

This alert applies to the following parks:

As a result of damage from ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie, some walking tracks in Lamington National Park remain closed, until declared safe. Damaging winds and heavy rainfall have caused fallen trees, landslides, rock falls, washouts, track scouring and other hazards.

Closed walking tracks in Binna Burra section include:

  • Illinbah circuit (including Illinbah bush camping area and Darlington remote bush camping area).

Closed walking tracks in Green Mountains section include:

  • Partial closure of West Canungra Creek circuit—the western branch of the track that leads to Yerralahla rock pool (Blue Pool) is open, though the rest of the circuit remains closed. Visitors must return to the car park using the same track. While this section of track has reopened, we urge walkers to use caution.

Observe all signage, barriers and directions from rangers, and do not enter closed areas.

All other walking tracks and camping areas in Lamington National Park are open. Please note that annual seasonal closure currently applies to all remote bush camping areas—see current park alert).

Commercial tour operators and other permit or agreement holders are not permitted to enter closed areas.

Contractors are currently working on repairs to the West Canungra Creek circuit.

Please note: Access to Green Mountains section is via Canungra along Lamington National Park Road ONLY. Scenic Rim Regional Council advise that there is NO access along Duck Creek Road as it remains closed until further notice. Stay informed of road closures—check road conditions.

Park alerts will be regularly updated regarding conditions on park. The next update will be provided by 31 January 2019.
